English designer, fashion icon and anti-conformist Katharine Hamnett launched her first protest T-shirt collection in 1983. Slogans like Choose Life and Save the Future are just two of the famous expressions spotted on celebrities at the time. When she discovered the environmental impact and terrible working conditions of cotton agriculture, Hamnett decided to make her brand’s production ethical and environmental. Today sees the launch of the first Katharine Hamnett Beach collection, a range of bathing suits for him and her, towels and bags in recycled, natural materials. Each piece features the slogan "Save the Sea", as a message to raise environmental awareness.
