Achille Castiglioni

Born in Milan in 1918, Achille Castiglioni began his career as architect and designer in 1938, in collaboration with his brothers Livio and Pier Giacomo. Considered one of the great Masters of Italian design, in the 1950s he was one of the founding members of ADI (Association of Industrial Design). Among the numerous awards, he won the Golden Compass prize eight times. His design career was characterised by an incomparable mix of simplicity, irony and fun, along with a marked curiosity regarding the way objects are put to use, and an interest in new technologies and materials.
