The first complete Ettore Sottsass’ photographic retrospective including works from 1943 to 2003; it features series such as The Rest of the Volcano and Metaphors. Works such as Metaphors (1972-1978), underline those years when for the first time many debates were rising up about an architect’s role as responsible towards society and culture. Most of the photographs were taken by Sottsass during his many trips to America, Greece, Middle East and Italy. The book also features portraits of personalities who Sottsass met during his whole life, from Picasso to Hemingway, Kerouac, Ginsberg and many others.
