Raffaello Biagetti

Raffaello Biagetti was born in Vernio, outside of Florence, in 1940. Beginning in the 1960s he began a thorough pictorial journey in China - an exposure that eventually influenced his own artistic style, which began to emphasise simple human figures or still lifes on cloudy, coloured backgrounds. Biagetti used his own ways of approaching painting and sculpture to his interior design objects, which are renowned for their surprising purity, clearness of shape and disarming simplicity. This technique involved a rigorous and constant research into materials - of which he favoured earth, iron, and wood - best exemplified by his burned wood décor of the 1980s inspired by Costantin Brancusi and titled "iron and fire".
Memphis is one of the most significant movements in Italian Design, established by designers and architects including Ettore Sottsass, Andrea Branzi and Nathalie Du Pasquier. The brand Post Design presents the new collections of the Memphis Group.
