Charles Ghost is constructed from a single block of transparent polycarbonate, making it indestructible so it can survive anywhere and function as a stool for occasional and informal events, at a kitchen counter or as a bar stool. It is just as suited to closed spaces as to open ones, and it embraces every kind of furnishings and every culture. Philippe Starck, born in Paris in 1949, is one of the most prolific and original designers of this era. Winner of important acknowledgements like the Grand Prix National de la Création industrielle and the American Institute of Architects Honor Award, he defines himself as "a Japanese architect, an American set designer, a German industrial designer, a French art director, an Italian furniture designer."
