About the work
SMS # 2: Bruce Conner, Legal Tender, 1968 by Bruce Conner. Green and black ink on paper. 2000-piece edition. Stack of 18 banknotes printed recto and verso with two of the artist's abstract pattern drawings. The SMS Portfolios were a collaboration between William Copley & Dmitri Petrov which they published through their Letter Edged in Black Press, working with some of the most important artists of the twentieth century. The aim was to produce a new form of art journal that would bypass traditional institutions to distribute the artist's work directly to its audience instead.
