- American costume jewellery designer Kenneth Jay Lane was born in 1930 and studied at the Rhode Island School of Design. During the early stages of his career, he designed shoes for Delman and Christian Dior before finally starting a range of costume jewellery under his own name. As his reputation grew stronger, he became a favourite amongst the American social elite of the 1960s, including celebrities such as Elizabeth Taylor, Diana Vreeland and Audrey Hepburn. He still is to this day one of the most influential jewellery makers of all time.
