SMART WATER FOR GREEN SCHOOL
SMART WATER FOR GREEN SCHOOLS

YOOXYGEN supports the Green Cross International initiative to provide clean drinking water, and promote hygiene and sanitary education, for children and their communities. The main ambition behind Smart Water for Green Schools is to reach out to populations living in water poverty around the world, whether because they are living in drought-affected areas or because water supplies are unaffordable.
THE PROJECT, FIRST STARTED IN GHANA IN FEBRUARY 2010, HAS SINCE SPREAD TO EIGHT COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD: GHANA, IVORY COAST, KENYA, SENEGAL, ARGENTINA, BOLIVIA, MEXICO, SRI LANKA, CHINA AND UKRAINE. HERE ARE SOME OF THE RESULTS:

• Safe drinking water for over 120,000 people in some 130 different communities;
• Decreased occurrence of waterborne diseases;
• Increased access to education, literacy amongst women and equality between the sexes;
• Communities trained to maintain the infrastructure and empowered to secure their water supply;
• Expansion of the project to communities in Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Senegal, Argentina, Bolivia, Mexico, Sri Lanka, China and Ukraine;
• Every year, Smart Water for Green Schools identifies new communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America to benefit from projects.
Smart Water for Green School aims to reach a further 20 communities in Ghana and 6 in Bolivia.
