More about Massimiliano & Doriana Fuksas
Born in Rome in 1944, Massimiliano Fuksas opened his Roman office in 1967, followed by one in Paris and another in Vienna. He has taught at the Staadtliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Stuttgart, the École Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris, the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Vienna, Columbia University in New York and La Sapienza in Rome. He was awarded the Vitruvio International prize for his career in Buenos Aires (1998), the Grand Prix d’Architecture Française (1999) and the AIA’s Honorary Fellowship (2002). In 2000 Fuksas was named Accademico Nazionale di San Luca and Commandeur de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de la République Française. He was the director of the 7th International Biennale of Architecture in Venice, entitled “Less Aesthetics, More Ethics”. Doriana O. Mandrelli was born in Rome and earned a degree in art history from La Sapienza in 1979. She attended La Sapienza’s Faculty of Architecture and was a member of the board of In/arch. She has taught contemporary architecture at La Sapienza, and in 2002 she was named Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de la République Française. She has been working with Massimiliano Fuksas since 1985 and directs the design department of his practice.
