Born in Grosseto in 1946, Chigiotti graduated in architecture at the University of Florence. He is an associate professor at the Politecnico di Milano where he teaches industrial design theory and design at the Faculty of Design. After concentrating on the history of architecture, he now studies the historical origins of design in the broadest sense of the term. Chigiotti has especially dealt with American and Italian developments, with particular attention to the relationship between production and design. He is the author of essays and books on the theories and history of design and architecture, and he helped put together the collection at the Contemporary Design Museum in Russi. For Driade he has written essays for the series “Manuali” and edited two books “Viaggio nell’abitare Driade” and “DriadeKosmo - Il mondo degli oggetti”.
