It's called 3D printing, and this sophisticated technique of adding layers has been employed to create the Macedonia iPad Case. Numeric data elaborated on the computer, beginning with the design, is transferred to a special machine that creates the shape of the object by overlapping thin layers of liquid polyamide. Once the piece is created, it gets finished by hand. Excess material is removed with a brush and a burst of compressed air eliminates dust. High technology encounters manual ability.

Janne Kyttanen was born 1974 in Hameenlinna, Finland. He started his industrial design
studies at the Escola De Disseny Elisava in Barcelona, then moved to The Netherlands and graduated from The Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. His experimental approach to technologies and materials has given a new direction to contemporary design.
