The new iron age. Professor Sarpaneva’s father was a blacksmith. Passing his childhood near fire and molten metal, the designer was inspired to re-create the traditional cast iron pot. Timo Sarpaneva (1926 – 2006) was a Finnish designer and sculptor. His work brought him into homes the world over through his high quality pans, crockery, fabrics, porcelains and glass vases. Timo’s creations are exhibited around the world at the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum and the Corning Museum of Glass of New York. He began collaborating with Venini in 1988.
