More about Richard Sapper
Richard Sapper was born in 1932 in Munich where he studied philosophy, graphics, engineering and political economy. Between 1956 and 1958 he worked in the design office of Mercedes Benz. In 1958 he moved to Milan, where he first worked with Gio Ponti and then the Rinascente department store. Together with Marco Zanuso, he designed radios and televisions for Briovega, the Grillo telephone for Siemens, furniture, lamps and many other objects. Between 1970 and 1976 he was a consultant for Fiat and Pirelli for cars and accessories before then consulting for IBM worldwide. Since 1986 he's been teaching at the Hochschule für angewandte Kunst in Vienna.
