  • DESCRIPTION
Alessi. Pulcina coffee maker The Pulcina coffee maker, designed by Michele de Lucchi, is a revolutionary espresso coffee maker combining technology developed by Illycaffè and the Alessi design experience. Illy has identified the ideal shape that the water boiler should be to produce the perfect coffee. Thanks to the internal shape of its special boiler, Pulcina automatically stops filtering the coffee at the right moment. This interruption helps to eliminate the eruption phase - the final filtering stage that creates a burnt and bitter after-taste - ensuring that only the finest qualities of the coffee are preserved and enhancing its full-bodied and rounded aroma.
  • DESIGNER
A guaranteed Michele De Lucchi object in all homes (or at least in Italy), is the white electricity meter he designed for Enel in 2001. Another iconic piece perhaps more common across the globe is the Tolomeo lamp, a product inspired by the movement of fishing rods, designed in collaboration with Giancarlo Fassina for Artemide: one of the best selling lamps of all time, thanks to the incredible simplicity of its form and its Compasso d’Oro award in 1989. An exuberant and tireless designer with profound, efficient ideas, De Lucchi was a prominent figure in the radical design of the seventies and the avant-garde movements of the eighties, such as Menphis and Alchimia, finally setting up his own brand Produzione Privata in 1990. De Lucchi collaborated with great companies such as Artemide and Olivetti, for whom he was Director of Design until 2002 and produced his second Compasso d’Oro, which he was awarded for the Artjet 10 printer in 2001. An extraordinary interior designer, De Lucchi is a renowned professor at the IUAV in Venice and at the Polytechnic University of Milan, and is currently the editor-in-chief of Domus.
