Design
Super Normal. This is the brilliant oxymoron that best defines the spirit and the formal research of Jasper Morrison, master of sober and functional design. Focusing on the “special”, according to Morrison, means creating impactful objects that are less useful, less resistant to changes in taste and more intrusive than the context in which they find themselves. Whereas the sensations of the ordinary, of the anonymous object add an ethical dimension that rejects the prevarication of form over function in the name of silent synthesis. Like a true actor, Morrison knows how to surrender the stage to his characters without imposing his own ego, letting the personality of his creation express itself in full autonomy and freedom. Established in London in the ‘80s, Morrison's studio has produced all sorts of objects from glass drinkware to trams, lamps, tables, chairs, sofas, crockery, appliances and shoes. All monuments to the essentiality and rigour that conquer the hearts of their admirers with great elegance and simplicity.
