In 1968 Weiner published what is considered his main text: Statement, his declaration of intent, in which he explained the conceptual basis of his work. The three famous points that sum up his vision state that 1. The artist may construct the piece; 2. The piece may be fabricated; 3. The piece may not be built. It is on precisely these assumptions that Domino, the limited-edition piece from the Galleria Massimo De Carlo, is based. A real board game, the work contains tiles printed with some of the words that feature in the artist’s work, thus virtually adding another point to his statement: the piece can create itself, through a game of dominoes! So this extraordinary object, not just an item of aesthetic and cultural value, is transformed into a performance and a conceptual work in the hands of enthusiasts able to grasp the complexity and irony of this artist and his oeuvre.
