Gelitin
Transgressive and provocative, Gelitin is a famous and exuberant collective of Austrian artists consisting of Wolfgang Gantner, Ali Janka, Florian Reither and Tobias Urban. Having met as children at a summer camp, the members of Gelitin started working together in 1993 and currently live and work in Vienna. Desecraters of content and artistic practice, the four artists use a variety of media, from performance to sculpture, installation, painting, photography and video, and their sharp and clever humour dominates their oeuvre, whether it’s a giant knitted rabbit or a painting of the Mona Lisa made from coloured plasticine. Applauded by the market and the public, Gelitin has exhibited from Düsseldorf to Puerto Rico and from New York to Moscow, without forgetting Italy, where they have often brought their playful and caustic spirit as well as their vision that, however extreme, can only lead to an altering of perception and therefore a renewal of thought.
