Male domination is so deeply entrenched in the history of humankind that this entirely cultural phenomenon is regarded as an inevitable natural factor. This can be taken as the starting point of all women's emancipation movements, at least from the suffragettes onwards. But it was with the Feminist Movement of the Sixties and Seventies that the fight against inequality and the social role of women became a cultural movement of epic proportions. This is the backdrop to the development and expression of the work of Judy Chicago, an artist, writer, educator and humanist as revolutionary as the Black Panthers, who has brought the artistic discourse of women to a new level. The author of the monumental visual poem 'The dinner party', which tells the story of the historical role of women from prehistoric times to the present day, Judy Chicago's work and life are models for a broader definition of art and women's right to freedom of expression.
