  • DESCRIPTION
Panier was the first object to be signed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for Kartell. Rigorous technical and functional research resulted in a container basket in a simple but very communicative shape. It is comprised of four modules to form the four quarters of a shiny, transparent circle bursting into rays of light. The quarters are attached to each other using opaque joints and stability is achieved simply by using inserts. Panier is a container which can be closed on one side with a transparent lid in polycarbonate and can easily be used as an end table or as a magazine rack.
  • DESIGNER
For Parisian brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, discovered by Giulio Cappellini and hired by Issey Miyake and Vitra, design represents the constant challenge of balancing their differing personalities. However, their rigorous attention to detail has led them to enjoy around twenty years of successful collaborations with brands such as Alessi, Flos, Kartell and iittala, just to name a few. With an all-encompassing vision of design, the Bouroullec brothers work with an experimental yet pragmatic approach, boasting attitudes that are different yet interconnected by the common necessity of applying genuine research in order to solve creative and production-related problems. Primarily inspired by nature, which they regard as a context for human experience, to be absorbed empathetically and re-interpreted rationally via geometric forms – the Bouroullec brothers’ designs demonstrate a magical equilibrium between essence and evocation, like the famous rhizomatic Vegetal chair or the Cloud bookcase, characterized by light lines reminiscent of a cloud itself.
