Vittorio Zecchin (Murano 1978 – 1947) attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. In 1914, alongside the painter Teodoro Wolf Ferrari, he presented a series of glass items created at the Barovier glassworks and during the Great War the artist set up a tapestry laboratory in an old convent on Murano. He showed his works, glass artworks, painted tapestries at the Venice, Milan, Rome, Monza, Turin and Paris Biennials. Zecchin taught at the Abate Zanetti of Murano and the Vendramin vocational school of tapestry and needlework of Venice; and from 1921 to 1925 he was artistic director of the Murano glass blowing company Cappellin Venini & Co. Vittorio Zecchin was one of the greatest protagonists and innovators of Murano glass art.
