Heir to the artisanal traditions of Omegna, where the company was founded in 1921, Alessi was initially born as a metallurgical workshop. Now almost a century later, it is one of the most highly esteemed and well-known design brands in the world. Manufacturer of a myriad of products, such as the iconic La Cupola coffee maker by Aldo Rossie, the Juicy Salif juicer by Philippe Starck, or the Anna G. corkscrew by Alessandro Mendini, Alessi moved on from pure artisanal craftsmanship to large-scale production in the seventies, when it began to collaborate with high-caliber artists such as Achille Castiglioni, Ettore Sottsass and Richard Sapper, recently working with starchitects such as Zaha Hadid, David Chipperfield and Jean Nouvel. Upholding the noble and poetic spirit of applied arts, Alessi maintains an artisanal approach and sustains a high level of creativity, producing democratic objects that never loose sight of the union between aesthetics and functionality that defines the very concept of design.
