Founded in 1999 by Jan Andersen and Poul Madsen, Normann Copenhagen reinterprets its heritage in a contemporary manner to create original products which have been extremely successful the world over straight from the get-go. Initially producing lamps and then later furniture, Normann Copenhagen's essential, functional and innovative style successfully and skilfully combines the most extrovert research of colour, structure and functionality with an aesthetic that is always coherent, svelte and eye-catching. A prime example is Simon Karkov's famous Norm 69 lamp, the brand's first major success. The lamp features seemingly chaotic overlapping of geometric shapes with a sophisticated, perfectly uniform overall vision. All of the products produced by this brand always perfectly balance retro features with formal innovation.
